With the Spring 2012 prer-a-porter shows just in the bag…. we’re on to the next- Bridal for the spring season. Designers took inspiration from all over, with pretty alternatives to frothy white tulle as well as gorgeous variations on that classic.-RS (Images via WWD)
Top row- Vera Wang had not a thread of white on the runway, instead offering nude, black, and the two mixed back together for dramatic effect.
Middle row- Monique L’Huillier chose to stick to the classics in dreamy, romantic gowns such as this 1930’s/grecian style charmeuse example, or the corseted, full-skirted lace confection on the right. All in soft white, lots of flounces, very feminine.
Bottom row- Carolina Herrera’s gown of white, grey and dusty rose tulle degrade` updates a familiar shape with an avant-garde color choice. The simple 1930’s silhouette with embellished belt brings a bit of red carpet to the wedding salon.
