Derek Lam Designs for EBay

Finallly EBay is figuring out how to do fashion. Since they launched their private sale business, a lot of us have been scratching our head- they just can’t quite get it together to compete with the likes of Gilt and Haute.

Enter CROWDSOURCING. After Derek’s February runway event, shoppers will be invited to vote on their favorite looks on eBay and determine the final assortment that will be available for purchase in the spring. The Lam-eBay collaboration is the first to bring crowdsourcing to the designer level, and it has the potential to change the way designers show their lines forever by allowing the customer to become the designer/ buyer in a sense. It will also give Lam the opportunity to reach a wider group of consumers than ever before.
