Last night I popped over to Sandbox Studios to check out The Preshows which featured three “up-and-coming” designers and benefited the charity Fashion Delivers. The first collection was Shumaq, which I had never heard of but then realized I’d seen the navy and white polka dot dress (above) at that Of A Kind sample sale thing they had a while back. Anyway, nothing groundbreaking but nothing dreadful, sort of a snooze in a palette of red, coral, cream, black and that navy polka dot print. I thought it was interesting that the line is produced entirely in Peru, but I wish they’d taken advantage of the wonderful yarns and embroidery available and incorporated that into the collection rather than just another maxi dress in a transparent fabric quality.
