Suno has been around now for enough season that we know most likely what a collection of Max and Erin’s will look like. For Resort 2013, sure enough, there were lots of prints, plenty of layering, and some inventive styling.
One aside before speaking about the clothes- it’s super challenging to even look at this photography and understand what’s going on with the patterned rigs in the background. Preen had bright multiple patterns and shot on a faded grey wall. That worked. This does not. It distracts and detracts from what is going on with the clothes (and isn’t that the point?) and I feel bad for the poor team of interns who probably had to run around getting this set up.
Moving on. Oddly enough, one of my favorite looks was the ochre colored lace dress. It’s so simple (and recalls a bit the Carven Fall 2012 collection btw) but perhaps that’s why it stood out to me. I loved the anorak style hoodies in half and quarter zips layered over skirts and tops. An excellent silhouette and wonderful mid-season idea. The droopy trousers I could have lived without (and probably so can buyers) but Suno has never been known for their pants so it’s to be expected. The colors were fantastic and the mixing of prints smart and powerful per usual. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
