After last Spring’s Thakoon show filled with bright orange and turquoise paisleys and Bollywood references, this show felt much more subdued, and much more straightforward. It was less dramatic, but a breath of fresh air and certainly not boring.
The florals (yes, florals for Spring… groundbreaking I know) ranged from those that opened the show and were more botanical/illustrative in feeling, to abstracted versions printed on sheers that were then layered with crisp white blouses and dresses, or separately on top of each other. The silhouettes were soft, yet quite constructed; these were not soft, fluid, draped dresses they stood away from the body and had structure, while also seeming to float, encircling the body. That’s a hard trick to pull off and one that Thakoon accomplished admirably. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
