For Spring 2013, Phillip Lim showed an outstanding collection filled with references to grunge and early 90’s styling- but in a good way!
Trousers sat low on the hip with long sleeved shirts tied atop them (like I did in middle school), there were exposed midriffs, and there was plaid. But not just any plaid; Lim took the ubiquitous Nirvana/Pearl Jam-era plaid flannel button-down and instead turned it into shift dresses and tops in silk with beaded embellishment to create the pattern. There was also a gorgeous botanical-esque floral print that popped up all over and will surely be hugely popular.
While colors stayed in the neutral ranges for most of the looks (apart from the bright multi of the floral), there were some significant moments such as the hot pink moto jacket and overalls- the former more successful than the latter. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
