Francine Ballard's Rantings of the Accessory-Obsessed.

  1. London flew by (whew, because other than those metallic trenches at Burbz, snooze!) and now we’re on to Milano!

One of the first shows up was Alberta Ferretti. For Spring 2013 it was a Downton Abbey goes to an Under The Sea themed prom collection.

Lots of 1920’s-ish dresses in seafoaming greens and pearls with cascading beading which was sometimes more successful than other times. For example the faux-fisherman’s netting or the embellishments that resembled barnacles-  No thank you.

Last year for Spring 2013 (oh wait, that actually just happened in real time) we saw this under the sea thing from: Versace, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen. And don’t forget that Chanel did it a season before that for Pre-Spring or Resort or something. So am I really tired of this ocean goddess look? Yes. Was Alberta Ferretti’s collection in this vein worth it? A little bit here and there.
