A capsule collection offering the sleek, minimalist designs of Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein will be hitting Macy’s on May 12th. Inspired by Brazil, the limited collection of dresses are priced at $135-$180 and come in black, white, yellow, and grey.

Etro Resort 2013 is an exercise in bright color and engineered patterns. The shapes were kept simple, with a bit of layering here and there (some drapey blouse+jacket combos) but most of the focus kept on the vibrant patterns. Not quite groundbreaking, but still a solid offering for the brand. -RS (Images via WWD)

Chanel Resort 2013 was a palette that could have come straight out of a box of Laduree` macarons. It had the feeling of a party, of joy and celebration and that je ne sais quoi that is ultra Chanel. These little dresses are some of my favorites- the soft floaty printed silk chiffon ones just as much as the more constructed, narrow gold trimmed ones. Chanel Resort 2013 is one of the loveliest, most light-hearted collections in recent memory. Karl Lagerfeld went all out with his Marie-Antoinette inspiration, even staging the show in the gardens at Versailles.

There were a few costume-historical elements mixed in here and there in pannier shaped skirts and some fichu collars draped around the necklines, the broad brimmed sun-hats and bright gold trim were pure Sun King (and Queen). But these were done with a light hand, reminders almost of the collection’s touch stone. The shapes became modern with the shortened skirts, the colors were soft and fresh and light, and most everything paired with white or gold creepers meant an updated look. The models wore wigs in pink and lavender and blue as a nod to the Rococo chic of Marie Antoinette.

There were a few classic Chanel looks sprinkled throughout, but not too much. This was not a collection filled with jackets UES ladies of a certain age wear to lunch. Rather, party dresses and- dare I say trendier- shapes dominated. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)

Prada is reissuing some of its greatest hits from 1991-2005 in honor of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s exhibit Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations. The bags range from $995-$2,950 and are available in Manhattan-based stores, so call and place your orders now!

I was flipping through my May issue of Vogue over the weekend and came upon the article about model Caroline Trentini’s wedding. So beautiful! Also I couldn’t help but think how much her gown, by Olivier Theyskens, resembles Kate Middleton’s but is about 50% cooler! It’s been just three short months since the madness of the Fall shows ended, and Resort 2013 is now beginning to trickle in.

Tomas Maier of Bottega Veneta, has followed his superstrong Fall 2012 show with yet another stellar lineup. The color palette is beyond sophisticated with the most particular shade of peach/blush, a pistachio that is pitch perfect, and some strong slate greys and taupes. The accessories have lots of texture, and bags both oversized and undersized look equally important.

Maier always creates wonderful wardrobes for his vision of the Bottega Veneta woman. This collection proves once again he can offer soft daytime suiting, smart separates for a posh lunch, and sharp dresses for sexy dinner parties. Once again, I find myself dreaming of an entire closetful of his product. If only….. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)

If you have ever wanted to carry a shag carpet or a shaggy dog around with you all day, then the new Iris Apfel handbag collection is perfect for you. Inspired by an old Mangolian lamb Lanvin fur coat she owned in the 70’s, the 90 yearold Iris Apfel took that fabric in addition to leather and suede and created 14 different handbags for her Extinctions line. Each bag is lined in turquoise colored fabric, has a dodo bird charm hanging from it and costs between $330-$640.

The collection debuts this fall.

A traveling exhibit celebrating the latest Karl Lagerfeld/Chanel project The Little Black Jacket book, which is due out in the fall, is coming to New York City. 113 photographs of celebrities and models such as Yoko Ono and Joan Smalls taken by Karl and styled by Carine Roitfeld will be on view while Chanel stores around town will also be getting in on the game by showcasing jackets from the metier d’arts collection in their windows.

The exhibit is on view June 8 to 15 at 18 Wooster Street and will be traveling to 8 additional countries during its tour.

The creative directors of Paris-based fashion brand Kenzo, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, have taken their love of collaborations with them. The duo have teamed up with the classic American brand Vans to bring us a collection of three colorful, unisex pair of sneakers running around $130. The shoes will be available in a staggered launch with a single pair coming out in May, June, and July at Opening Ceremony stores.
