H&M is proud to announce a spring designer collaboration with the Italian brand Marni. Famed for its original prints and inventive spirit, Marni is one of fashion’s most-loved labels, and its founder and creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni, has created a spring collection for H&M for both women and men that captures the essence of Marni. Available from March 8, 2012 in over 250 stores worldwide and online, the collection features both clothing and accessories, all at H&M’s prices,  allowing everyone  the chance to enter Marni’s world.” (Quote and Images Courtesy H&M/Marni)

Honestly, I can’t be bothered to even write about this so I’ve cut and pasted part of the press release. Yet another brand whoring itself out to the high street so a bunch of people who don’t even care about it can scramble for the dregs of a designer experience. -RS

Marni Does “Vintage” Online
And when we say vintage, we mean stuff they have in stock from a long time ago. Being that we’re all about pre-owned luxury at ds.com, we think it’s a genius concept, but are somewhat intrigued by some of the items they chose. For instance, I’m normally not a huge fan of vintage lingerie per se, but the polka dot panties they’re selling come in different sizes so I’m assuming this stuff is all new, and not used. However, if you have $1,010 to spend, the leather trousers (above) are certainly a unique find.
Launching today and available through Dec 2, check it out for yourself and report back.

SOCK IT TO ME.. AGAIN!

Continuing from FW2009 and SS2010, without question the most ubiquitous trend from the Milan shows last week (besides fur) was socks or stockings with EVERYTHING. Three of the most respected collections (shown here) featured the sock phenom prominently.

So if you haven’t tried it yet, don’t be afraid to venture out. You have at least 6 more months to get it right. But unless you are an expert, you may want to start here:

-It’s easier (and more wearable) to match similar color schemes (ie grey on black- a la Dolce, above)

-Ideally choose socks that have a little slouch to them

-Socks should be worn just below the knee

-Socks or stockings that are lightweight with a little texture create a nice effect

Good luck and send us your pics!
