So… while Pre-Fall is still going on, the men’s shows are now winding down, and market week is finishing up, why not make fashion life even more complicated by starting the couture shows now! Really though, at times the calendar is really shocking.
Anyway, Donatella showed a small, tight (in editing and shape) group of mini dresses and sculptural gowns for Versace. The colors ranged from metallic neutrals to acid yellow and bright tangerine. There were gold metal fins and such that outlined the forms, sort of a Richard Serra sculpture meets mermaid warrior glam princess. I wonder how many starlets and icons she can sort into these for Oscar season… -RS (Images via vogue.com)
Woke up to a mailbox full of press photos, lookbook shots, campaign pics, and product close-ups for the Versace for H&M out in November. Despite my usual snarkiness regarding “collabs” and this designer for that brand type stuff…. it looks like this collection nailed it. Can’t wait to see it live! -RS (Images Courtesy of Versace/H&M)
As we mentioned last week, the news of a Versace for H&M collection has everyone abuzz. Can this new project allow the luxury brand – already a household name – to become more accessible to women of all income levels? Will an affordable diffusion line negatively affect Versace’s high-end reputation? We won’t know until the line launches but we are psyched for the chance to snag some budget-friendly Donatella. “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere,” said Ms. Versace.
The collaboration hits participating H&M stores this November. Will you buy it?
THE EVOLUTION OF NUDE.. Black & White?
Thanks in large part to fashion’s new prodigy, Prabal Gurung, we suspect that the ever subtle and universally flattering current nude trend may literally fade.. to black and white in short order.
$10 bucks says we see at least three features on it in April and May issues..
