THIS WEEK’S DEALS & STEALS
So Shopbop has jumped on the ‘refer-a-friend’ bandwagon and is giving shoppers a chance to get $25 bucks if your friend makes a purchase. That could definitely get you some new bopbasics. Good tee’s and tanks are always a necessity (obviously!).
Piperlime is running their Lime Tag SALE in which their experts have done the shopping for us. They have handpicked the best of what’s on SALE, making the experience that much easier and affordable.
As for my personal fave? The Alexander Wang Rocco bag ON DesignerSocial is a steal, must-have, dying to get, KILLER sale.

CFDA “BEST ACCESSORY DESIGNER” ALEXIS BITTAR GIVES A TOUR OF HIS WORKSPACE AND HIS FAVORITE PIECES
The genius of Alexis is that just when you think you can identify his pieces by a certain design aesthetic, he goes and switches it up on you. Each creation is truly, wildly different from the next, and they are all custom-designed by hand in his studio.
We are beyond excited to present this behind the scenes tour showcasing many of the pieces that we received here this week. Check them out now in the DS CLOSET. The bracelet he designed for Grace Coddington of Vogue shocked us the most.. we knew she was a cat-person, but we never figured her for a bow-girl.
Hope Lady Gaga likes the knee pads Alexis!

TV DINNER: DesignerSocial on ABC NEWS
We met up with Lauren Glassberg a few weeks ago to shoot a news segment about fashion websites for ABC News. Lindsey Harper and her assistant, Devon Morten styled the fabulous closet of one of our fancy upper east side clients.
The segment will air tomorrow night on Channel 7, at 5 pm New York time. Or you can catch it later online at: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/index.
Become a Whistleblower for Peace
We are very proud to announce that Falling Whistles are now available in the DesignerSocial Closet. After covering the Falling Whistles installation in NYC, we were so touched by the cause behind the necklaces, that we wanted to do whatever we could to help spread the word. This not only meant becoming whistleblowers for peace ourselves, but joining the quest in getting as many people to own Falling Whistles and become advocates for the war affected children in the Congo.
Watch our video to hear story behind Falling Whistles from founder, Sean Carasso himself, and join the ranks of celebrities and fashionistas alike who have supported the cause. 100% of the proceeds will go to rehabilitate and advocate for the freedom of these war affected children. Buy a whistle, wear it proudly, and keep the conversation going.

OUR 5,000th FOLLOWER CONTEST
Congratulations to Natalie Franke, our 5,000th follower! Check out her blog on tumblr: Caffeine. She is the proud recipient of one Alexis Hudson python clutch! It might actually, er, match what she’s wearing in this photo..!
This was a fun contest.. we’ll have to repeat it for 10,000. Just in case you’re curious, we’re already up to almost 5,500 already! And Tumblr is working on a feature where you can view followers dynamically.. cool.
Power Alliance
If you’re like us, you will want to gauge your eyes out if you have to look at this skinny biotch again. But we thought we’d torture you one last time since we wanted to let you know about a cool sale that we’re doing with one of our fave partners today and tomorrow.
Billion Dollar Babes is the West Coast originator of live sample sales, and is now available in an online format with discounts of up to 95% on your favorite fashion, beauty and home brands.
And of course there are perks- free shipping for friends of DS. Oh- and YES, we’ve updated the image on the home page.
FASHION SPY: Valentino- duped again!
As much as their petale bags have been copied six ways till Sunday, we were genuinely surprised to spot this suspiciously similar bag at Ann Taylor this weekend for $225. The original Valentino Bow Bag sold on DS.com last season for $1300. Oh well- you know what they say Valentino- imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A BUYER?
Congrats to Sara Cornell who picked all three Botkier styles that we are carrying this Spring. And thank you to everyone one who entered. Judging by the response to this contest, we will definitely do it again for Fall with another featured designer.
Sara picked the Howard Street Satchel in Fuschia, featured above as her prize, but all three bags are currently available on designersocial.com.
NEW FEATURE: EDITORS PICK
Starting today we are excited to share a very special benefit with our loyal followers. Each week, our staff will pick our favorite item from the closet and offer a 30% discount code for that item, for that week only.
The codes will change weekly so make sure you check back to find out that week’s code. This week we are featuring this amazing clutch from the Spring collection of one of our favorite new designers, Katherine Kwei. (We featured a video profile of her on the blog a couple weeks back if you want to see/hear more from her or find out what celebs are carrying her bags.)
This week’s code is: WYSIWYG because what-you-see-is-what-you-get! Just enter it at checkout for a 30% discount on the featured item.
