For Valentino Pre-Fall 2012, MariaGrazia and Pierpaolo showed variations on the ladylike silhouettes of the past few seasons. The daintily tied center-front bow details, the short, voluminous silk skirts, fitted jackets with slightly pouffed sleeves… all in a palette that did not veer away from Valentino red, black, white and nude. The super-popular studded shoes they have been showing appeared for this season in vaguely Victorian booties- for the win. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
LEATHER AND LACE- by Valentino
Fashion influential, Sasha Charnin of US Weekly tweeted about these last weekend and I’m obsessed. It’s like someone called my Alexis Bittar pearl-skull necklace, “Precious but Evil”. Love dichotomy in all things.. but especially fashion.
$1295, Bergdorfs.

FASHION SPY: Valentino- duped again!
As much as their petale bags have been copied six ways till Sunday, we were genuinely surprised to spot this suspiciously similar bag at Ann Taylor this weekend for $225. The original Valentino Bow Bag sold on DS.com last season for $1300. Oh well- you know what they say Valentino- imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
All Hail Valentino
We all remember the epic documentary, Valentino The Last Emperor (for those that haven’t seen it, it’s currently available to watch instantly on Netflix). The man certainly is a living legend, responsible for so many beautiful pieces known in the fashion world today. As everyone gave their thanks last week… we of course were thankful for Valentino.
To be more specific, as we added new bags to our selection we were proud to include the Valentino Petale Tote, in red and grey. Because it’s current, it’s full price everywhere else, but on DesignerSocial full price is just not our style.

This bag is certain to make you the center of attention on the holiday scene.
